LandaGO 2024-2026
Advanced Autonomous Mobility for Rural Areas in Gipuzkoa (LANDAGO)
01
Project
To develop an advanced autonomous mobility model in rural zones
02
Targets
Technological development, social and territorial inclusion and innovation
04
Conclusions
Positioning Gipuzkoa as a leading example of autonomous mobility solutions in Europe

This initiative aims to develop an advanced autonomous mobility model for rural areas, promoting local development through innovative, sustainable technology. Using precise data collection and analysis, LandaGO will generate the necessary expertise to enable technology that can be replicated and scaled up in other European regions.
- Technological Development: collect data in rural settings in Gipuzkoa, validate autonomous functionalities, and adapt a research vehicle with specific modifications to demonstrate viability in complex environments.
- Social and Territorial Inclusión: reduce inequalities between rural and urban zones by improving accessibility to services, promoting inclusive mobility, and facilitating opportunities for all residents.
- Innovative Territory: transform Gipuzkoa into a “living laboratory” for autonomous mobility in rural areas, using physical and digital testing environments, flexible regulatory frameworks, and advanced data management tools.
PILOT EXPERIENCE PHASES
- Enablement phase: validation of the technological feasibility of the project in a complex rural setting, specifically along the Abaltzisketa–Amezketa route. Data capture and testing took place between March and August 2025, incorporating feedback from citizens.
- Learning and Replicability Phase: Following the Enablement Phase, a new test will be conducted on the Zerain–Segura segment from August to December 2025. This test will build on previous learnings and present greater challenges for autonomous driving.
- The Pilot Phase will focus on developing and preparing the required infrastructure for autonomous vehicle operation. From mid-2026, the first operational tests with an electric autonomous vehicle will begin.

LandaGO is driven by a public-private partnership involving: Gipuzkoako Foru Aldundia, Basque Goverment, MUBIL Hub, Vicomtech, Eurogap and BasqueCCAM, combining institutional, technological, and business knowledge.
LandaGO represents a strategic commitment to smart and innovative mobility in rural environments, placing inclusivity, sustainability, and technological innovation at the center. It aims to position Gipuzkoa as a European benchmark in autonomous mobility solutions that address rural challenges.
Throughout each phase, key data will be collected to optimize the service and adapt it to local needs, encouraging replicability. The goal is to achieve an exportable and scalable model that by 2030 can provide autonomous rural mobility in Gipuzkoa and be replicated in other European contexts.
