PLIADES is a project that advances state-of-the-art data space reference architectures to make data a key driver of AI and robotics progress. It focuses on developing AI-enabled tools for managing the full data lifecycle, including sustainable creation (compression, filtering, normalization), secure storage, and privacy protection through decentralized standards. The project also introduces AI-based brokers, connectors, and discovery services to improve data sharing, interoperability, and real-time quality assessment.
PLIADES aligns with EU initiatives to support a Common European Data Space and validates its outcomes through six use cases across mobility, healthcare, industry and energy. These use cases aim to enhance CCAM and ADAS/AD technologies, improve human-robot interaction, and deploy advanced, integrated data spaces that reduce carbon footprints and promote a greener future.
- Research and develop models and methods for eco-friendly, human- and context-aware data creation across mobility, green deal, energy, industrial and healthcare data spaces.
- Advance data privacy, security, trust and sovereignty, extending standards to give citizens and organizations greater control over their data.
- Promote advanced data decentralization, expanding storage options and AI-enhanced brokers.
- Create advanced data space connectors among data spaces to enable interoperability across EVs, industry, and robotics, integrating full data life cycles into reference architectures.
- Provide novel services for decentralized data processing and analytics, enabling real-time insights while ensuring privacy, security, trust and data re-use.
- Deploy use cases in transport, energy, manufacturing, healthcare and green deal sectors, engaging SMEs, industry, public bodies and citizens.
- Develop new business models for data sharing and reuse, supporting data intermediation services based on neutrality and altruism, aligned with the Data Governance Act.
- Build synergies with European initiatives (DSSC, Simpl, national programs), contributing strategies and technologies for a Common European Data Space.

PLIADES aims to facilitate cross-domain data sharing by enabling users from diverse and heterogeneous data spaces to exchange data safely and seamlessly. The project lays the foundation for the development of a versatile data exchange ecosystem that integrates various data spaces. This is accomplished by extending the specification of IDS RAM with cross-domain data services, which augment the capabilities of IDS Connectors and facilitate decentralized data management as it is presented in the following figure. In addition, the project presents a cutting-edge data integration framework that places emphasis on the entire data life cycle, while also considering environmental and security factors.
